As with many American families who come from different traditions, Luis was born in Guatemala and Terri grew up in Springfield, Missouri of German ancestry. Both knew the importance of giving their children all the benefits of learning languages from the earliest ages.
Terri’s sister had used MUZZY German to enable her boys to communicate with their German relatives. So when Terri and Luis’ boys turned 2 and 4, they started MUZZY Spanish so they would know the language of their father’s family. “It was important to Luis that when we took the children back to his home in Guatemala, they be able to speak to his family and grandmother, who speak little or no English. And they did!” says Terri proudly.
In 9th grade, Ben told his mother, “I seem to know a lot more words and have a much easier time with languages than the other kids.” He is #1 in his class and thanks to MUZZY, she says, his pronunciation is great. At 3, little Andy already has a good Spanish vocabulary his parents use MUZZY, his favorite video, as a reward. “Even now, Ben will watch MUZZY with Andy,” says Terri. “Ben uses MUZZY for language reinforcement and pronunciation. I studied Spanish over 20 years ago in college so if I put on MUZZY Spanish Level II while doing things around the house, it refreshes my Spanish.”
