It’s amazing what parents and children are achieving around the country using MUZZY to bring the benefits of early language education into the classroom. With the help of administrators, parents at Timber Trace Elementary School in Florida raised the money to bring MUZZY to the classroom when there wasn’t funding to implement a foreign language program or hire teaching specialists.
Fueled by a small band of parent volunteers who effectively deliver a kindergarten through grade 5 Spanish program, Timber Trace quickly became a model of what is possible using MUZZY materials and methodology. Within just a few months, MUZZY fever took over the school. There were MUZZY Spanish theme parades, plays and fiesta nights. The young students’ skills and motivation were well ahead of many traditional Spanish programs used in the area.
PTA treasurer and parent, Carilynn, attributes much of their success to the strength of the unique MUZZY design and methodology. “The students love the MUZZY story so much that they retain the language content, even when they only view the scene for a short time, and even without the lesson.” Carilynn’s dedication and work earned her The Mayor’s Award for outstanding contribution to education. But as Carilynn is fond of saying to new volunteers, “The MUZZY Program does the work itself. We’re just the icing on the cake.”
