MUZZY French — "I know my French helped me get the job."

Debbie’s parents introduced MUZZY French before she was 3. At Harvard, her language skills helped her secure a summer job as editor of a travel guide. Upon graduation, she landed a job with an international company. |

“I grew up in a MUZZY French household,” says Debbie. “I never really thought about it as ‘learning a language’ any more than I thought about Sesame Street as ‘learning my letters and numbers.’ To me, the characters and stories were about playing – just a natural part of my childhood. What little kid wouldn’t love cartoons and songs?
“When I started taking French in middle school, it was pretty easy for me. I won the Concours National de Francais award in high school and took two French classes at Harvard, including one conversational course. One summer, I worked as an editor on a travel guide and I know that my knowledge of French helped me get the job.
“These days, I like speaking French with real, live people,” Debbie admits. “But for a kid, hanging out with a princess or a fuzzy Muzzy is so much cooler.” |
